The trip is online and bookable. The departure is not yet confirmed, but the first ones are already warming up their engines. If you want to be there, block your spot now. The legends are moving ahead.
Imagine waking up surrounded by silent mountains, where meters of soft, light snow fall every night. We are not in Hokkaido, the most traveled destination, but in the authentic heart of Japan, on the island of Honshu in the Tohoku region. Here, among hidden slopes and pristine forests, Japanese powder shows its truest face. This is the perfect time to experience snowboarding in Japan, where every descent becomes an opportunity to draw clean lines and feel the snow like never before.
The first edition of this trip to discover the Secret Japow was a real success: meters of fresh, untouched lines and a close-knit group that lived each day in the Outdoo spirit. E Federico Resega is already counting the days before returning to Japanese lands. Don’t let him miss this opportunity in 2027 as well.
With Outdoo we will go off course to experience a different adventure, far from the usual tourist routes, in search of the least crowded resorts and slopes possible. At our side will be Federico Resega, snowboard instructor, who combines technique, international experience and passion for deep snow. And he won’t be alone: there will be two guides with him, ready to reveal the secrets of the Japanese mountains and take us to the best lines each day, always different depending on snow conditions. The combination of expert guides and untraveled areas guarantees breathtaking descents and moments of true freedom on snow.
From Geto Kogen at Appi Kogen, via Hachimantai Shimokura Resort e Amihari Onsen, we will move among authentic and still little-explored districts, alternating days of intense riding with relaxing moments in traditional onsen and evenings of local cuisine, immersed in the most genuine Japanese culture.
This is not your usual snowboarding trip to Japan: it is an immersion in the purest powder, a Japow tour driven by the Outdoo spirit, designed for those who want to experience every turn as an unforgettable experience, amid adrenaline, breathtaking scenery and the magic of a Japan still secret to the eyes of most travelers.

Professional snowboarder and adrenaline sports addict, Federico Resega will be the point person for this adventure in Japan. With years of experience among the mountains halfway around the world and a deep knowledge of freeriding, Federico will not only know how to accompany you on the most exciting descents, but will also pass on the confidence and awareness needed to tackle them. By his side, each line becomes an opportunity to grow, improve and experience the magic of Japanese powder to the fullest.

From perfectly groomed slopes to powder-laden forests, each day will be a mix of technique and adventure. We will move between authentic ski areas such as Geto Kogen, Appi Kogen, Hachimantai Shimokura Resort and Amihari Onsen, alternating between downhill runs and sidecountry and freeride lines amidst the light snow that has made Japan legendary. The magic of this experience lies precisely in the contrast: the precision and order of Japanese resorts combined with the freedom of off-piste, to fully experience every turn, every jump and every landing in the purest powder.

Joining Federico will be experienced and certified guides, true connoisseurs of the area and its mountains. They have been living and working as guides in the Japanese lands for decades and they will be the ones to lead us along the best lines, revealing spots that only those who frequent these areas every day really know. The number of guides supporting Frederick will be defined according to the final number of participants, so as to ensure the best balance between safety, quality of experience and group management. Their presence will ensure not only maximum safety on each descent, but also the possibility of discovering hidden and authentic corners of the Japanese powder. With them by our side, we will be able to tackle side country and off-piste skiing with total peace of mind, focusing only on the fun and magic of Honshu's snow.

Upon your arrival at Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) you will meet Federico and the rest of the group, ready to leave together for the mountains of Honshu. From here we will take the train to Ueno Station, where we will make a change to reach our destination: Morioka, in the heart of Tohoku.
Waiting for us will be local guides, who will accompany us to our accommodation for this unique experience. After checking in, we will settle in and toast together to the beginning of the adventure.

Three days of pure snow and adrenaline await us in the heart of the Tohoku region, where Japanese powder shows its most authentic side. We will move among such outstanding ski areas as Geto Kogen, Appi Kogen, Hachimantai Shimokura Resort and Amihari Onsen, choosing the best conditions each day to find the lightest and deepest snow.
Each day will be different: downhill runs, sidecountry lines and safe freeride sections, guided by Federico Resega and our local guides, always ready to show us the best spots and share technical tips to improve our experience on the board.
At the end of each day, we will regenerate in local onsen, located within or in close proximity to the resorts, before returning to Morioka for dinner and a well-earned rest, ready to recharge our batteries for the next day’s adventures.

After three intense days of snowboarding and powder, the body will need some rest to recharge its energy and enjoy the rest of the trip to the fullest. After breakfast, we will immerse ourselves in Japanese culture with a full day dedicated to exploring Morioka and its most iconic sites.
We will begin with a visit to the impressive Hoonji Temple, famous for its 500 statues of Buddha’s disciples, each with a different expression. We will then continue with an authentic experience at Kikunotsukasa Sake Brewery, the oldest sake distillery in Iwate Prefecture, where we will learn the secrets of traditional production and participate in a guided tasting.
In the afternoon, we will explore Morioka Castle Ruins Park, an oasis of tranquility that holds the castle ruins and offers beautiful views of the city and surrounding mountains.
We will end the day in the best possible way at Super Sento – Onsen & Spa, one of the largest spas in the region: a place designed for long stops of pure relaxation, with different types of baths and saunas, as well as dedicated dining areas.
Note: this day is designed to give yourself a break in the middle of the trip, but fear not…. Should the snow conditions be perfect on the very fifth day, we may anticipate or postpone it so as not to miss a single descent into Japanese powder.

We will move between Geto Kogen, Appi Kogen, Hachimantai Shimokura Resort and Amihari Onsen, following the best conditions to find the lightest powder and the most exciting freeride lines.
Federico Resega and local guides will accompany us between downhill runs, sidecountry and safe off-piste, allowing us to savor every turn and jump in the fresh snow. Between descents, there will be time to admire breathtaking views and discover hidden corners of the ski areas.
As usual, at the end of each day, before returning to Morioka we will relax in local onsen and return to Morioka to share with the group the excitement we experienced, before dinner and well-deserved rest.

The joy does not end there: onelast day on the slopes awaits us, filling our eyes with breathtaking scenery, our hearts with unforgettable memories, and our legs with descents in the faraway Japanese powder.
Once the descents are over, it will be time to retrieve our luggage and take the train back to Tokyo, where we will spend the last night. Here we will have a chance to savor some of the big city vibes, experiencing a perfect ending after a week immersed in the heart of Tohoku.

For those who will have a late afternoon flight, however, the day will be devoted to free discovery of Tokyo: strolling through iconic neighborhoods, last shopping or sampling local specialties, before comfortably reaching the airport and bidding farewell to the group, taking with them memories of a unique experience in the heart of Tohoku and Japan.

In this incredible Japanese experience we will stay in the heart of Morioka, at theArt Hotel Morioka, located about 30-60 minutes from the best ski areas in the region. This hotel, with double or triple rooms equipped with single beds, will be the ideal base to enjoy our snowboarding days to the fullest.
In addition to the services included with your stay-breakfast, bath and bed linen, and a rich Japanese-style toiletries set-the hotel also offers a laundry service for a fee, which is useful for those who don’t want to bring all their snowboarding gear for the entire week.
And should post-powder fatigue set in, no problem: the hotel has three restaurants, perfect for dining without having to move.

This trip is designed for advanced and experienced, but above all, knowledgeable riders: it is not a camp to learn how to ride powder, but an opportunity to perfect your freeriding, to push yourself a little further, respectfully and safely.
For this, it will be mandatory to bring your own self-rescue equipment and know how to use it.
If you have experience in off-piste terrain, know the techniques for dealing with steep slopes, drops and variable snow, can handle tight turns and avoid obstacles, and have good mastery in difficult conditions, you are the right person.
If, on the other hand, you have never been off-piste or are not comfortable in untraveled terrain, this trip is not for you.
In addition to technique, it is essential to have basic physical fitness: we will be spending 6 full days on the board, so you will need to be sufficiently trained to handle the descents without slowing down the rest of the group.
If you are not sure if you have all the requirements, write to us at hello@outdoo.it, we will evaluate together whether this trip may be right for you.
To participate in this trip, in addition to thestandard equipment for snow days-waterproof clothing, boots, board, helmet, double-lens goggles, gloves and technical underwear-it is essential to have your own personal self-rescue kit, consisting of ARTVA, shovel and probe, and a specific backcountry backpack (30/35 liters) to carry your equipment and personal belongings.
Personal self-rescue equipment will be checked by guides on site. If it is found to be non-compliant, it will be necessary to rent state-of-the-art equipment on site.
We will send you a detailed list before departure to help you make the best preparations.
Starting from Italy, in order to arrive on time at the rendezvous point, it will be necessary to leave the day before the day the trip starts.
Yes, there is maximum flexibility on flights. However, we recommend arriving atTokyo Narita airport for two reasons:
The train from Haneda to Morioka requires two changes, while the train from Narita to Morioka requires only one change.
Arriving at Narita, you will be able to travel to Morioka together with Frederick and the rest of the group.
If you decide to arrive atHaneda Airport instead, the train transfer to Morioka will still be included in the price; however, you must notify us in a timely manner of your flights so that we can arrange the train and reach Morioka independently to meet the rest of the group.
Yes, in addition to daily admissions to local onsen after the six days in powder, one day will be devoted to exploring Morioka and its most iconic sites. We will visitHoonji Temple, have a tasting at Kikunotsukasa Sake Brewery, explore Morioka Castle Ruins Park, and enjoy some relaxation at Super Sento – Onsen & Spa.
This day is designed as a mid-trip break, but don’t worry-if the snow conditions are perfect on the very fifth day, we can anticipate or postpone it so that we don’t miss a single descent into Japanese powder.
To ensure an exclusive and personalized experience, places are limited to 8 participants.
If you are an Italian citizen, to travel to Japan you must be in possession of a valid Passport, and with remaining validity for the entire period of your stay. Entry to Japan may be refused where you present a passport previously reported as lost or stolen: it is therefore essential to obtain a new passport before departure.
When entering the country, you must also be in possession of your return air ticket. On the other hand, no visa is required for tourist stays within 90 days like ours.
Precise details of travel destinations or hotel reservations may be requested at immigration checks at the border. You may also be asked to show sufficient cash to cover the costs of your stay in the country (the availability of a credit card is not considered sufficient security in itself).
For up-to-date information, we recommend you consult the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Travel Safe.
If you are not an Italian citizen, please check entry requirements through official channels in your country of citizenship.
Our trips always include medical and baggage insurance. For more information on coverage see the information set.
