The trip is online and bookable. The departure is not yet confirmed, but the first ones are already warming up their engines. If you want to be there, block your spot now. The legends are moving ahead.
This trip is designed for those who dream of racing in one of the world’s most spectacular settings and want to prepare to experience one of the world’s most unique races. It is possible to participate in both the full marathon (42.195 km) or the Ultra Half Marathon (25 km), choosing the distance that best suits your goals and level of preparation.
Accompanying the group will be Lorenzo Lotti, runner, coach and founder of Sempre di Corsa, who throughout the experience will be a point of reference for preparation, race approach and effort management, sharing technical advice and personalized guidance based on each participant’s goals.
La Petra Desert Marathon & Ultra Half Marathon is a unique race of its kind: the route starts from the legendary Nabataean city of Petra and winds through rock-carved tombs, ancient carvings, canyons and trails that open up to almost lunar-like desert landscapes.
The full marathon measure 42.195 km with approx. 1172 m of positive elevation gain and 1129 m of negative elevation gain, while the Ultra Half Marathon is spread over 25 km, with approx. 862 m of positive elevation gain and 804 m of negative elevation gain, along the same extraordinary scenery. Running here means crossing one of the most fascinating places in the world, where nature and history come together in an experience that goes far beyond the sporting dimension.
The journey, however, is not just about the race. In the days before and after the competition, we will have time to discover the culture and history of Jordan, taste the local cuisine, meet people and experience the area, sharing the route with a group of running and travel enthusiasts.

A runner and coach with years of experience in marathon preparation, Lorenzo will accompany the group throughout the journey, offering technical advice, personalized guidance and support in managing pace, effort and approach to the race. A constant point of reference, both before the start and in the days leading up to the competition.

The race offers a choice between full marathon (42.195 km) and Ultra Half Marathon (25 km), allowing each participant to enjoy the experience according to their level and goals. Whether you want to test yourself on the classic distance or tackle a shorter but still challenging route, the atmosphere, landscapes and excitement of running in Petra will be the same, shared with the group and with Lorenzo's support throughout the journey.
Arrival at Amman’s Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), where the organization’s staff will welcome you and direct you to transfer to the Dead Sea, the first stop of the trip. Transfer is included and arranged according to participants’ arrival times; transfer may be shared with other runners from other organizations.
After checking into the hotel, the rest of the day will be free to rest from the trip, relax at the facility, or begin to settle in.

The day begins with breakfast at the hotel and continues to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, a unique place to relax and recover energy in preparation for the race. It is race day, the most anticipated moment of the trip. After a light breakfast, all runners will gather at 05:45 in front of the Petra Visitor Center, from where we will move together to the starting line.
The race will start at 06:30, for both marathon participants and the shorter distance ultra half marathon. Running in Petra in the early hours of the morning is a very special experience: the site is not yet open to the public, and the route passes through canyons, desert paths and spectacular views without the presence of crowds, allowing you to experience this unique place in an even more authentic way.
After the race, the rest of the day will be free to recover, relax or simply enjoy the atmosphere of Petra and Wadi Musa.
In the evening, for those who wish, it will be possible to participate in a Jordanian cooking class (optional activity), a convivial experience to discover the flavors and traditions of local cuisine.
Note: Any personal belongings to be used after the race can be left at the Visitor Centre before the start, marking the bag with name and bib number.

After breakfast we will return to Petra to more leisurely explore this extraordinary archaeological site, accompanied by a guided walking tour that will allow us to learn more about the history and secrets of the legendary “Pink City.” This will be an opportunity to discover lesser-known corners, take a closer look at tombs, temples and canyons, and experience Petra beyond the race experience.
Lunch will be free and the afternoon at leisure to recover after the marathon: it will be possible to relax in the hotel, indulge in one of the hammams or spas in the area, or stroll around Wadi Musa, discovering local restaurants and cafes.
In the evening we will move to the desert for the Celebration Dinner, a special time to celebrate together the experience we have just had. Between dinner, music and the unique atmosphere of the desert under the stars, we will celebrate the achievements and emotions shared during the race.

This trip is designed for intermediate and advanced runners who want to challenge themselves in a challenging race and have an experience that combines running, travel and cultural discovery.
It is not necessary to have specific times, but it is important to have good preparation for long-distance running and familiarity with effort management on challenging trails, even in hot conditions and uneven terrain.

To participate in this trip, it is important to have the proper equipment with you both for the race and for the days of visiting and moving around.
For the marathon we recommend bringing:
For the desert climate, it is recommended to choose garments that protect from the sun: for example, a lightweight T-shirt may offer more protection than a tank top. A buff or bandana can also be useful to protect the neck from the sun and, if necessary, wet them at refreshments to cool off.
Temperatures during the race can reach as high as 35°C and the course offers little shade, so it is crucial to pay attention to hydration and heat management.
For the rest of the journey are sufficient:
Upon confirmation of the trip we will send you a detailed list of recommended equipment, so that you are better prepared before departure.

The entry visa.
For tourism:
With reference to the latter, at the one at the “King Hussein Bridge” and the southern one at the arrival of the ferry connecting with Egypt, the prior online purchase of the entry visa remains strongly advocated by these Authorities. In fact, in emergency circumstances, the possibility of purchasing it even directly on the spot at the crossing point has only recently been introduced: it remains a matter subject to extemporaneous procedural changes and often long queues and waits.
The cost of the one-month single-entry visa is 40 Jordanian Dinars (JOD), but it is easily extended for an additional month at any Police Station.
Holders of the “Jordan Pass” who stay in Jordan for at least three nights are exempt from paying the visa fee. The “Jordan Pass,” which itself does not constitute an entry visa, costing 70 to 80 JOD depending on the formulas, includes free access to more than 40 tourist sites in the country (including Petra). More information can be found at http://www.jordanpass.jo/Default.aspx.
The tourist visa does not allow for work or business activity, even voluntary, in the country. For any travel purposes other than tourism, it is advisable to consult the relevant authorities in advance to avoid incurring penalties.
The yellow fever vaccine is mandatory for all travelers over 1 year of age from countries at risk of transmitting the disease. For further guidance on recommended, but not mandatory, vaccinations, see https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel, as well as your referring physician/vaccination center.
